My *new* Intentions

Hello all and welcome! I'm so glad I could get you lovely people here with me today, because I have some exciting news!

After a couple of months of a lot of pre-planning, trial and error this now commences my first ever published post for beatsbychristy! Its so exciting to finally be here and put everything together for the few people whom have already began to scroll through my page!

Prior to Freelance Writing, I was actually enrolled in Cosmetology School. I loved it, mainly because I finally found a way to put my two favourite things together: Art and Making people feel good about themselves. A few years out of school sans diploma (Boo!!) I was beginning my transition, and I couldn’t help but notice a huge disconnect.

When I would spend hours watching YouTube beauty gurus, I was developing my own techniques, I was envisioning their beat on somebody else. I had the proper skills and training that I could dissect a look, and see what worked for me and my clients and what didn’t., when it came to me that most transgender women weren’t coming from the same place I was. They were often left confused, doing it the hard way in regards to finding their own taste and style. There was tutorials and articles out there for trans women, but putting on makeup is one thing, however understanding why they did this before that and Y before X was so much different.

I want to bridge the gap. Trans women shouldn’t have to feel panic when they walk through the cosmetics aisle; Not when I know the feeling of excitement and wonder it brings to me. Sephora shouldn’t be resorted to because it’s less intimidating to buy online, but rather because you want to treat yourself to something awesome!

I feel I should also clarify, I am not a licensed professional. I do not have all the answers, and I won’t act as if I do. I just know what works for me personally, and some universal advice that will help anybody. I’m learning more as time goes on as well. This is going to be a new experience for me just as it will be for everyone else.

I want to become not just a beauty blog, but THE beauty blog for LGBT people who want to be more closely aligned to the beauty community.. For some of us, makeup can sometimes be the only thing that can help us move through society peacefully. For others, it’s just a fun way to express ourselves. Either way, we deserve to have current, relevant, up to date information that fits our tastes, regardless of what they are.

The beauty industry has always been an open door for anybody who chooses to enter. I just want to extend the welcome mat a little bit further. :)

Stay safe everybody! Wear masks!
